Our vision is to create a world where crime is reduced to zero through deeply AI-enabled technology and community-driven reporting.
We started by making Wolf the primary communication channel for reporting crime and suspicious activity via WhatsApp - a platform already used by millions throughout South Africa. This data then powers an intelligent technology stack which will serve the entire public safety industry.

How two old friends from school banded together to make the world a safer place. Nick and Michael first met in high school in Grahamstown, Eastern Cape. However, they went their separate ways after that, with Mills studying in Cape Town and Houghton in Edinburgh, UK. For ten years they would have to wait before the idea of Wolf was born.
While working in the solar industry, one of our founders noticed the power of WhatsApp as a tool for integrating services and engaging users. The challenge of getting people to download yet another app was a major barrier, but WhatsApp was already in everyone’s pocket. That insight sparked an idea—what if this same approach could be applied to community safety?
After brainstorming, it became clear that a platform capable of processing WhatsApp inputs could provide real-time data for private security teams and law enforcement. The missing piece was AI-driven intelligence, which led to the collaboration with a specialist in large language models. And so, Community Wolf was born.

As a founding member and managing partner of South African solar energy startup Nick has deep operational expertise and understanding of the local context, Nick is driving Wolf’s mission to modernise the public safety ecosystem in South Africa.
As a previous founder of an AI Software Agency and Venture Builder, Michael has worked with companies across many industries deploying AI systems. He has built tech solutions for large scale organisations across Africa and Europe. A South African, Michael is deeply familiar with the shortcomings of traditional safety solutions.
